GAJ-DASTAK

It didn't start as a product. It started with a question — why are we always reacting after the damage is done?

It didn't begin with technology. It began with discomfort.

In the forests of Jashpur, Raigarh, and Katghora, the pattern was always the same. Night falls. Elephants move silently. By the time anyone knows — it's too late.

The response was always the same. Torches. Firecrackers. Noise. Not because it works — but because it's all that exists.

Elephant traversing forest-edge landscape — intelligent animals that remember and adapt

But elephants are not random. They remember. They learn. They adapt. If we keep reacting the same way, they will keep ignoring us.

So we changed the approach. Instead of chasing elephants, we tried to listen before they arrive.

An alert came in. Not after the damage. Before.

And when the team reached the spot — the signs were there. Footprints. Movement. Presence. For the first time, it wasn't guesswork.

GAJ-DASTAK stopped being an idea. It became a system.

Why GAJ-DASTAK Exists

Detection before reaction

Conflict doesn't begin when elephants arrive. It begins when we fail to know they are coming.

Behaviour matters more than force

Elephants cannot be controlled. They can only be understood, influenced, guided.

Unpredictability prevents habituation

If a system behaves the same way every time, it becomes irrelevant.

GAJ-DASTAK is not about stopping elephants. It is about giving both sides a chance to avoid conflict.

A Crisis of Coexistence

Every year, humans and elephants pay the price for shrinking habitats and expanding conflict zones. The loss is felt on both sides — in lives, in livelihoods, and in the slow erosion of a relationship that has lasted millennia.

Trenches, electric fences, and firecrackers were never solutions — they were compromises born from having nothing better. Elephants habituate. Communities suffer. The cycle continues. What's needed is not more force, but more understanding.
